Amal Clooney at ASIL New York Gala in New York, 01.10.2019

Amal-Clooney (3)

On Tuesday evening, October 1, 2019, the Society hosted a Gala Reception at The Frick Collection. Assembled by industrialist and art collector Henry Clay Frick (1849-1919), the Collection is renowned for its Old Master paintings, sculptures, drawings, and decorative arts. It is housed in his former residence on Fifth Avenue—one of the few remaining Gilded Age mansions in New York and one of the city’s most elegant and beautiful public spaces.

At the event, were recognize two “Champions of the International Rule of Law”: Amal Clooney, President of the Clooney Foundation for Justice; and Brad Smith, President and Chief Legal Officer of Microsoft. Both are longtime friends of the Society who have made distinguished contributions, both individually and through their respective organizations, to advancing human rights and the global rule of law. Each of the honorees will be present to accept the award.

The Gala included the award presentations, followed by a conversation with the honorees and CNN anchor and political analyst John Avlon. Guests will enjoy exclusive access to the galleries and a full reception and open bar. Out of respect for those observing Rosh Hashanah, the formal program will not begin until 8:00 p.m.

    1. Some angles she’s very striking. In other angles she looks so severe, harsh and manly masculine almost like a Michael Jackson. How is it possible for her to look so different?

  1. Zac Posen is a fantastic stylistic choice. Zac sews in curvature stitching on his dresses and it’s helps to enhance or in Amal’s case create an illusion of a feminine hourglass figure since she has a straight body anatomy.

  2. I am following this blog for sometime, congrats Nati for keeping up with it.
In the beginning the comments were fashion related, since this is a fashion blog. However, lately the comments have nothing to do with fashion but are simple depreciative. Really I cannot understand every single one of us at certain stage havale fall victim of those same comments, dont know why some insist in undermining someone and this blog with such comments. Even you think something less pleasent should keep it for yourself.

    1. Amal is incredibly incredibly intelligent and image-conscious. She’s FULLY aware that once you put yourself in the face of the public, there will be scrutiny.

It’s naive to expect people to keep opinions to themselves if it’s not worshipping Amal.

Ironically, you are also expressing your personal opinion freely. Just as others will do. Why police others’ behavior? Maybe not read this blog if you don’t agree on Nati’s choices of which comments to publish?

  3. Sending love and wishes for her sister – currently serving jail time – although what she did was wrong and put people in danger – feel bad for her young kids missing their mum

    1. Agreed. There’s a larger underlying issue and hope that Tala is getting the help she needs. You’re right there’s no shame, she just has issues … but living it out for public discourse.

  4. Yes, it’s in the papers, drink driving and driving without a valid license, how stupidly irresponsible (and embarrasing), and it’s her second conviction apparently. Not really a great example for her children… I can’t believe people still consider it not a big deal to get behind the wheel when they’ve drunk alcohol.

  5. Amal`s sister did something wrong, but she did not kill anybody. The worst thing for her is, that the whole world is talking about it. Sometimes I have the feeling, that everybody here is holy.

    1. Amen, VDHPS. We- and our family members -all make mistakes. To have them reported so publicly must be very difficult. This is Tala’s issue- not Amal’s. On another note, it appears as if the Clooney Foundation for Justice is starting to do important work. It would be good to hear more about that.

    2. The worst thing is that people are talking abourt it ?? OMG, what are your ethics ? The worst thing is that she could have injured or kill people very easily. Read the statistics.
Since when the “she didnt kill anyobody, so is okay” ?? just becasue her in laws are the famous billionares Clooneys (casually thanks to his tequila business ) ?
Going to jail when driving drank is for everybody, with or without the Alamuddin lastname.

      1. Well Gee she didn’t KILL anyone so whats the big deal right? This was a bad move and apparently one she did not learn her lesson from. I have lose family members to a person who was drinking and got behind the wheel- an adult and 2 year old trick or treating.

      2. Np, CocoLoco – she did something wrong, but nothing worse happened – do you want to crimanlize everybody, who does something wrong? If yes Ok: then 90 % of the mankind has to be in prison.

  6. This colour is fantastic for her. Some time ago she had a Burberry Coat – nearly the same colour – she looked radiant in it. I think it was in London

    1. You really admire Amal.

“Radiant” is such a powerful word – it like a the object to the sun and a sense of love. How can one have a sense of love for a stranger? A person who would pass you by on the street with neither distain or admiration, rather indifference.

Idolatry is strong in the blog.
